Mr. David Reid Boyd, 78, of the Gum Swamp community of Beaufort County, died Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at Lenoir Memorial Hospital, Kinston.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Paul Funeral Home, Washington with Cash Beveridge officiating. Burial will follow in the Woolard family cemetery, Gum Swamp community, Washington.
Mr. Boyd’s nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Boyd was born in Beaufort County on Sept. 5, 1928. He was the son of the late Mack David Boyd and Carrie Hodges Boyd. He had lived most of his life in Kinston at the Caswell Center, with his brother, Jason, who preceded him in death Feb. 28, 2004.
Survivors include one sister, Ardis Gallagher of Herndon, Va.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Dora Fern Boyd and Samy Woolard Faulkner.
The family will receive friends Saturday from noon until 2 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home, Washington.
