Mrs. Edna Ray Baugh, age 89, a resident of Smallwood, died Thursday morning, June 14, 2007 at Beaufort County Hospital.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2007 at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Mrs. Baugh’s nephew, Sid Cundiff. Her grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Baugh was born in Kentucky on January 31, 1918. She was the daughter of the late George Thomas Ray and Lora Crabtree Ray. On June 27, 1942, she married Marion Harvey Baugh who preceded her in death on January 30, 1993.
Although Mrs. Baugh had lived most of her adult life in Falls Church, Virginia, and Washington, NC, her roots were buried deep in her birthplace of Kentucky. Her family was very dear to her as were her many friends. As long as her health allowed, each year she traveled back to her Kentucky hometown to visit with those loved ones who remained.
Well known for her keen sense of humor, “Edna Earle” brought laughter to those around her. She could laugh at herself and enjoy others’ laughter at her expense. She enjoyed being a homemaker and was known for her cooking skills which were proven time and again in the delicious dishes she prepared.
Mrs. Baugh is survived by her children: Sharon Eaton and her husband, Chuck of Washington and Jim Baugh and his wife, Lauren of Blounts Creek; her grandsons: Donald Ambrose and wife, Susan; Matthew Ambrose and wife, Adriana; Ricky Eaton and wife, Donna; Wade Sisson and Ben Sisson and seven great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Howard Ray.
The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Sharon Eaton located at 209 Oak Drive, Washington.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to: Dick Jones Pediatric Nursing Scholarship, Pitt County Memorial Foundation, P. O. Box 8489, Greenville, NC 27835
