Mrs. Van Corey Kornegay, 61, of 3593 Hollow Pond Road, Jamesville, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at Martin General Hospital, Williamston.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. John Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Washington, with Elder Russell Wilkins officiating. Burial will follow in Hodges family cemetery, Washington.
Mrs. Kornegay was born in Martin County on Dec. 13, 1945. She was the daughter of the late Doss and Maggie Hodges Corey. She was a 1965 graduate of E.J. Hayes High School, Williamston. On Nov. 21, 1980, she married Jonathan Kornegay Sr., who survives. She worked as a home health nurse with the Beaufort County Department of Social Services. She was a member of St. John Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ).
Survivors include one daughter, Sacha Cooper of Williamston; two sons, Jonathan Kornegay Jr. of the home and Scotty Harris Sr. of Williamston; four sisters, Doris Ebron, Deborah Corey and Della Williams, all of Jamesville, and Nancy Wilson of Fayetteville; two brothers, Dorsey Corey of Jamesville, and Gilbert Corey of Portsmouth, Va.; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Marylin Williams.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
