Mrs. Mary Leicester Edwards, 87, a resident of the Brian Center and formerly of 446 Sutton Road, Windsor, died Thursday, June 28, 2007, at Bertie Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Edgewood Cemetery with the Rev. Eric Lockhart officiating.
Mrs. Edwards was born in Bertie County on Jan. 4, 1920. She was the daughter of the late J.R. and Bessie Smithwick Leicester. She was married to Herbert Ellis Edwards, who preceded her in death in 1995. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Lawrence Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Michael Edwards of Windsor; one sister, Bertha Barnacascel of Windsor; two brothers, Aubrey Leicester and Melvin Leicester, both of Windsor; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends at the home of her son, 1931 Cooper Hill Road, Windsor.
