Mrs. Elizabeth Wainwright Grissom, age 65, a resident of 1610 Dan Taylor Road, Washington, NC died Wednesday evening, July 4, 2007 at Beaufort County Hospital.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday July 7, 2007 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home in Washington officiated by Eddie Bowen. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Jim Perry, Isabel Perez, Paul Perry, Doug Perry, Rusty Roberson and Junior Wainwright will serve as pallbearers. Georgia Torres, Ella Mae Woolard, Geraldine Carawan and Jeanette Singleton will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Grissom was born in Beaufort County on March 17, 1942, daughter of Fannie Mae Tetterton Wainwright and the late Floyd Earl Wainwright. On August 20, 1959, she married Herman Winstead Grissom, Sr. who preceded her in death on November 5, 2006. She was a homemaker and a member of Wares Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a former volunteer at Ridgewood and a former member of the Beaufort County Grange.
She is survived by her children: Terry G. Boyd and her husband, Jerry; Effie G. Beddard and her husband, Ray and Herman W. Grissom, Jr. and his wife, Kim all of Washington; her grandchildren: Christopher Lewis, Heather Lewis, Ashley Grissom, Natalie Grissom, and Morgan Boyd; her step grandchildren: Emily Beddard and Mallory Beddard; her great grandchild: Chris Allen, Jr.; her brothers: Jesse James “Buddy” Wainwright, Billy Jack Wainwright, Floyd Henry Wainwright and Glenn Edward Wainwright; her sisters: Fannie Earl Toler and Linda Faye Alligood and her mother: Fannie Mae Tetterton Wainwright. In addition to her husband and father, she is preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Ray Wainwright and a grandson: Daniel Lloyd Lewis.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Paul Funeral Home in Washington and other times at the home.
