Mr. John Joseph Gaskill, 98, of New Bern, died Saturday, July 7, 2007 at Craven Regional Medical Center.
John was a lifelong resident of New Bern and a longtime member of Centenary United Methodist Church. He was also a lifetime member of Doric Masonic Lodge #568 and a Shriner, and he was also a volunteer firefighter with the Button Company.
He is survived by his son, John J. Gaskill Jr. and wife, Donna of Beaufort, NC and one daughter, Georgene G. Eakes and husband Mark of Chocowinity, NC and four grandchildren, Shannon Lee Gaskill of Otway, NC, Taylor Gaskill Lim and husband James of Orlando, Fla., Matthew John Gaskill and wife Crystal of Greenville, NC, Kelly Eakes Harris and husband Randy of Greensboro, NC and three great-grandchildren, Sophia and Calleigh Lim and Makenna Gaskill.
A service celebrating his life will be held July 10, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church. There will be a reception at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice.
Arrangements are by Cotten Funeral Home and Crematory, New Bern.
