Mrs. Henrietta Branton Lackland

Mrs. Henrietta Branton Lackland, age 83, a resident of 205 Ellison Drive, Washington, NC died Monday morning, July 9, 2007 at her home.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday July 12, 2007 at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by the Reverend Kevin Johnson. Raymond Lawrence, Jerry Briley, James Phillips, Shawn Heath, Bill Mac Alligood and Grant Tew will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Lackland was born in Norfolk, VA on August 31, 1923. She was the daughter of Charles Fredrick Branton and Minnie Woolard Branton. She was a graduate of Washington High School. On July 5, 1947, she married Sam Boushall Lackland who preceded her in death on January 17, 2002. Mrs. Lackland was a homemaker and worked for several years in admissions at Beaufort County Hospital. She also worked with the Rationing Board during World War II. Mrs. Lackland was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her daughter: Ann Lackland Taylor of Washington and her grandson: Aubrey B. Taylor, III of Raleigh. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her son-in-law: Aubrey B. “Sonny” Taylor, Jr. and her loving grandson: Brian Samuel Taylor.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Paul Funeral Home in Washington and other times at her home.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Lights of Love, Beaufort County Hospital, 628 East 12th Street, Washington, NC 27889.
The family wishes to thank Mary Satterthwaite and Tina Raye her private caregivers, her associates with Ascera Hospice Care for their help and Mrs. Ivelene “Ike” Czuhai, her hospice volunteer.
