Rev. William “Dinky” Waters

Rev. William “Dinky” Waters, 52, of South Williamson, KY, died suddenly on Saturday, July 7, 2007, at Williamson Memorial Hospital.
Born April 6, 1955, in Washington, NC, he was the beloved son of the late James Ray Waters and Peggy Peele Waters of Washington, NC.
He was the pastor of Williamson’s Fifth Avenue Church of Christ located at 11 West Fifth Avenue. During his tenure as pastor, Rev. Waters was instrumental in creating a local annual musical festival known as “Pneumafest,” and he was of member of the Pneumafest Steering Committee. He was also an active member of the Williamson Ministerial Association.
William was a great contributor and believer in supporting people and community. He was a noted friend to many and gladly offered himself in service to many worthwhile causes. Ever the giver in life, he continues to give through his death as an organ, tissue and eye donor.
Through his loving act of kindness, it is estimated that approximately two hundred people will be given the chance for renewed health through transplantation. Through his last act of kindness, he has again impacted the lives of people in need of help and given hope for a new beginning.
William was in past years, an avid deer hunter and enjoyed the game of basketball as both a spectator and participant.
Married to the love of his life for seventeen years, he is survived by his wife, the former Patricia Farrar, and one son, Nathan, whom he loved and cherished with all of his heart.
Other survivors in addition to his wife, son and mother include two brothers, Michael Ray (Katie) Waters, Raleigh, NC, and Gordon Keith (Cindy) Waters, Greensboro, NC; two sisters, Katrina Lynne Waters, Greenville, NC and Katherine Yvonne Waters, Farmville, NC. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Ruth Farrar, Thaxton, VA, and a brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Debbie Farrar, Danville, VA, as well as a host of nieces and nephews, extended family members and loving friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, July 10, 2007, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at the mortuary. Revs. Chris Blevins, Greg Whitlow and Robert Settles will officiate.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 13, 2007, at the Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, NC.
