Mrs. Doris Winifred Wynne Gurganus, 88, died Thursday, July 12, 2007, at Britthaven of Washington.
Mrs. Gurganus was born May 26, 1919, in Beaufort County. She was the daughter of the late Octavis Battle Wynne and Clara Cutler Wynne. She married Joseph Vernon Gurganus who preceded her in death. Survivors include son Joseph Vernon Gurganus, Jr. and daughter-in-law Harriet Joan Gurganus, and son Frederic Wynne Gurganus. She is also survived by grandchildren Martin Douglas Gurganus, Sr. and wife Carla Michele Gurganus, and Jeffrey Neil Gurganus and wife Julia Smith Gurganus; great-grandchildren Martin Douglas Gurganus, Jr., Daniel Paul Gurganus, Michael Joseph Gurganus, Natalie Erin Gurganus, and Megan Wynne Gurganus; nieces and nephews Mary Wynne Vaughan, Octavia Bost, and Francis Wynne. She was preceded in death by sisters Lucy Wynne Vaughan, Jeanne Wynne Hodges, Margaret Wynne Gaskins; brothers, Octavius Battle Wynne, Jr. and Frederic Thomas Wynne, and a nephew, James Eugene Hodges.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2007, for the immediate family.
