Wilma Ruth Buys Rees, age 66, of 175 Edgewater Rd., Washington, died Friday, July 13, 2007.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Rees was born July 19, 1940 to the late William Day Buys and Marjorie Della Dawe Buys who survives and on December 3, 1960, she married Robert Allen Rees who preceded her in death on April 26, 1973. She was a graduate of Farmington High School in Farmington, CT, served in the United States Marine Corps, graduated from Central Connecticut University with a B.S. in Science, was a director of a group home for the handicapped, traveled extensively, was an avid quilter and was a member of the Pamlico Quilters Guild.
Survivors include her mother, Marjorie Dawe Buys of Washington; one daughter, Colleen M. deBres and husband Arthur of Manistee, MI; one son, Michael Rees and wife Tammy of Washington; two brothers, William T. Buys and wife Barbara of Harwinton, CT, Seth A. Buys and wife Tanya of Waldron, AK; two sisters, Karen B. Smith and husband Glen of Waldron, AK, Martha B. Hika and husband Eugene of Fort Myers, FL and five grandchildren: Robert Mickle, Arthur L. deBres III, Michael J. Rees, Lila Ruth deBres and Daniel William deBres.
The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2007 at the Bayleaf Plantation Community Room, 1120 Cowell Farm Rd., Washington.
