Mrs. Alice Hodges Carson, age 93, a former resident of Village Circle died Friday July 20, 2007 at Britthaven of Washington.
A graveside funeral will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday July 23, 2007 at Oakdale Cemetery of Washington officiated by pastor Ken Cash. Pallbearers will be Travis Sadler, Gerald Cameron, Russell Gurganus, Eddie Congleton, Colton Boyd and Mike Hall.
Mrs. Carson was born in Beaufort County on October 11, 1913, daughter of the late A. Alonza Hodges and the late Annie Harrell Hodges. She attended Beaufort County Schools and married Thomas Albert Carson on October 2, 1970 who preceded her in death on December 25, 1985. Mrs. Carson was a homemaker and was the oldest living member of Hodges Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include a sister: Idell Purdy of Suffolk, Va. She was preceded in death by four sisters: Annie Bell Arnold, Ethel Cherry, Gladys Hardy and Viola Carson and a brother: Floyd Hodges.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2007 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at the home of Mrs. Carson’s caregiver and niece: Janice Hodges located at 114 Pine Lane, the Rosedale community of Washington.
