A convicted felon, just released from prison in March, was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with stabbing a 61-year-old Plymouth man outside Pamlico Orthopedic Associates on Highland Drive in Washington.
Sidney Wade Little, 40, of Duck Creek Road, Washington, faces charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle, robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and larceny of a motor vehicle, according to the Washington Police Department. The police department is not yet releasing the name of the victim.
Around 11:34 p.m. Tuesday night at Pamlico Orthopedic Associates, a Plymouth man, hired to clean the building, was leaving when a man, armed with a knife, approached him and demanded money.
The victim was transported to Beaufort County Hospital and then to Pitt County Memorial Hospital, where he underwent surgery for his injuries. Police said he is in stable condition as of Wednesday.
Following the incident, the robber fled the area in the victim’s truck. With assistance from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, the truck was recovered and Little was apprehended.
Little was wanted by the N.C. Department of Correction for a probation violation and has an “extensive criminal record,” according to police.
Little was convicted of felony breaking and entering in 1987, 1991 and 1994, according to the Department of Correction’s Web site. He was convicted of felony forgery in 1987 and 1994.
In 2006, Little was convicted of possession of a firearm by a felon. He served six months at Craven Correctional Center and was released in March of this year, according to the DOC Web site.
For Tuesday’s charges, Little was held at the Beaufort County Detention Center a $100,000 bond.
