Mr. William Clinton Stilley, 79, of 616 Oak St., Greenville, died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Truth Temple Church of God in Christ, Greenville, with the Rev. Willie Langley officiating. Burial will follow in Homestead Memorial Gardens, Greenville.
Mr. Stilley was born in Beaufort County on Nov. 8, 1927. He was the son of the late Edward and Mattie C. Clark Stilley. He attended the Beaufort County Schools. He was an Army veteran. He had been employed as a researcher with USDA in New York. He was married to Lorraine Washington Stilley, who preceded him in death. During his early years, he was a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, Edward, where he served as a choir member. In New York, he attended Shilo Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Keisha Stilley of Chesapeake, Va.; one stepdaughter, Roberta Murray of Long Island, N.Y.; two sons, William Stilley Jr. and Lamont Stilley, both of Chesapeake, Va.; one sister, Lela Yates of Edward; seven brothers, Lonnie Stilley of Portsmouth, Va., Ernest Stilley of Greenville, Curtis Stilley of Rocky Point, Norman Stilley of Greenport, Long Island, N.Y., Hilton Stilley and Osber Stilley, both of New York, N.Y., and Floyd Stilley of Edward; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Bryant Stilley and two sisters, Virginia Moore and Lethia Moore.
The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, 19061 N.C. Highway 33 East, Edward, and other times at the home. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
