Mrs. Effie Waters Chambers, 92, of Chambers Road, Pinetown, died Sunday, August 5, 2007.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and will be conducted by Rev. Lyman Sheppard. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be: Murrel Jordan, Murray Waters, Bobby Wallace Ronald Carrow, Octavius Wallace Jr. and Ted Wallace.
Mrs. Chambers was born in Beaufort County on October 11, 1914 to the late Leroy and Hattie Waters, and on May 23, 1933, she married Claude Ray Chambers, who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pinetown Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters: Alva C. Lilley of Plymouth, Rae Wetherington of Washington, Betty Jo Stanfield of Raleigh, Lou Long and husband George of High Point; three sons: Jimmy Chambers and wife Lena of Kinston, Travis Chambers and wife Brenda of Delaware, John Chambers and wife Diane of Wilson; one sister: Rachel Dessiree Waters of Washington; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday, August 6, 2007 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pinetown Missionary Baptist Church, 3298 Long Ridge Road, Pinetown, NC 27865.
