Mr. John Griffin Sr., 69, of 767 A. Main St. Ext., Edward, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at Beaufort County Hospital, Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday in Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Edward, with the Rev. Victor Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Holliday cemetery, Edward.
Mr. Griffin was born in Beaufort County on Nov. 4, 1937. He attended the Beaufort County Schools. He was married to Mildred Squires Griffin, who survives. He was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Edward.
Survivors include four sons, Ervin Boomer of Silver Springs, Md., Terry Squires of Atlanta, Ga., Michael Griffin of Greenville, and John Griffin Jr. of Greensboro; three daughters, Robin Williams, Lisa Griffin and Janice McKenzie, all of Greensboro; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred Griffin of Edward; and three sisters, Sarah Ford of Edward, Viola B. Elam of Georgia, and Delzora Stilley of Blounts Creek.
The family will receive friends at the home.
A walk-in visitation will be held today from 1-8 p.m. at Whitfield &Whitley Funeral Home, Washington.
