He was born on September 9, 1937 in Swan Quarter, North Carolina and was the son of the late, Humphrey and Margaret Brinn. He was also predeceased by his son, Linnie Brinn, and his grandson, Nicholas Rosso.
Lin was in the first graduating class of Norview High School in 1955 and he continued his education through many sources the rest of his life. He had a very warm and loving personality and was admired by many and known to be a strong leader. Working Civil Service his endeavors took him from the Philippines to Keywest, Florida. Lin retired in Jacksonville, N.C. where he was the Housing Director of Camp LeJeune for more than 20 years. He was a Mason and a Shriner for over 50 years and a long-standing member of the New River Power Squad. There he served as Secretary, Treasurer, Education Officer, Executive Officer and Commander. The New River Power Squadron is part of the United States Power Squadron and is affiliated with the National Safety Boating Organization. He had a true love for the water.
Lin will be sorely missed by his family, boating buddies and many friends.
The family would like to extend special gratitude to his dear friend Barbara Gearhart. She was by his side many times during difficult times and the family will be forever grateful. The family also recognizes M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, TX. for all their efforts and very kind and gentle ways. An extra special gratitude goes toward the University of Texas Police for their heroic efforts, especially Sergeant James Bray, for going above and beyond duty.
Left to cherish his precious memory is his mother, Margaret Brinn of Jacksonville, N.C., formerly of Chesapeake, VA; two daughters, Pam Fox and husband, Keith of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Robin Brinn of Chesapeake; a son, Linnie Brinn of Virginia Beach; six grandchildren, Stephanie Fox and Leslie Fox, both of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Heather Niswonger and Morgan Rosso, both of Chesapeake, VA, Doug Brinn of Virginia Beach, VA and Sarah Christian, and husband Alec of Richmond, Va.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 on Thursday, August 23 , 2007 in the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home &Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, Virginia 23322. The interment will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.
The viewing will begin on Wednesday, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
