Mr. Luby Wiley Koonce, age 74, a resident of Bath, died Saturday morning, September 1, 2007, at home.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, September 3, 2007 at Bonner’s Point in Bath officiated by Pastors Allan Harmon and Woody Freeze, III.
Mr. Koonce was born in Craven County on May 16, 1933, son of the late William Wiley “Willie” Koonce and Ruth Morgan Koonce. On October 11, 1954, he married the former Doris Everett, who survives. He was a commercial fisherman.
In addition to his wife, Doris, he is survived by his sons: Jerry Lane Koonce and Garry Wayne Koonce both of Bath, Andy Keith Koonce and wife, Sherry of Pinetown; his daughters: Beverly Koonce Jarvis and husband, Michael of Bath and Ruby Ann Glover and husband, Mark of Havelock; his brother: Billy Ray “Bud” Koonce of New Bern; his sister: Mary Ellen Hines of Grifton; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
His son, Toney Collins Koonce, preceded him in death on June 7, 1991 at the age of 31. He is also preceded in death by his brother: Floyd Collins Koonce and his sisters: Nellie Gray Squires and Addie Lee Hudgins.
The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, Beverly Jarvis, located at 120 Claredon Ave., Bath.
