GREENSBORO — Thomas Moody Stroud, Jr., 87, died on August 31, 2007.
A Service of Celebration will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 2, 2007, at First Baptist Church Chapel. Dr. Steve Pressley will officiate. The family will meet with friends following the service in the church atrium.
Moody was a native of Greensboro, and a lifelong member of First Baptist Church. He graduated from Guilford College in 1940. Moody was a Navy lieutenant and veteran of World War II. He retired from his family business, J.W. Scott and Co., and later joined Tareyton Corporation.
Surviving are his wife, Ann Shaffer Stroud; son, Thomas M. Stroud, III of Washington, NC; daughters, Martha Ann Litchfield and husband Tomp of Washington, NC and Susan S. Forman and husband Bill of Pine Knoll Shores, NC; grandchildren, Hayden and Tomp Litchfield, Katie L. Eagles, Carrie and Luke Stroud, Maggie and Sarah Holt Forman; great-grandson Wells Eagles; and his sister, Carol S. McGahee of St. Louis, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue Greensboro, NC 27405, or to the Historical Room Fund at First Baptist Church, 1000 W. Friendly Avenue Greensboro, NC 27401.
Hanes Lineberry N. Elm Chapel is assisting the Stroud family.
