Louise P. Kidwell died on August 31, 2007 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital after a monthlong battle. The family asks that you join them in the celebration of her life with them at her home at 108 Deep Run Rd Washington NC anytime.
Louise (or Ma as her family and friends knew her) was born in Aberdeen, MD on September 4, 1931. Her parents were Burton Proctor Jr. and Mary Louise O’Conner. Her sister is Teresa Daly of Garden City Park, NY and her brother was Fr. Burton Proctor S.J. (deceased). She attended Mount St. Agnes High School in Baltimore, MD. After graduation, she attended night school at McCoy College a part of Johns Hopkins University, as Johns Hopkins did not accept women at that time.
She applied for work with the FBI and received a rejection letter from Herbert Hoover informing her that it was not their policy to hire women.
In 1952, she married Ronald M. Kidwell (deceased), of Pisgah Ohio; together they adopted a child Deborah (deceased), and bore five children of their own.
Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren are: Ronald M. Kidwell Jr. and his wife Pamela of Granite Falls, NC, their children are Ashton, Jordan, Ciara and Taylor. Mark E. Kidwell, daughter Cynthia (deceased), and his wife Barbara of Woodbury, MN, their children are Michael, Mark, and granddaughter Lilly. Proctor Kidwell and his wife Lisa of Washington, NC, their children are John, Joseph, and James. Mary Lou Woolard and husband Talmadge of Grimesland, NC, their children are Mrs. Michelle Woolard, Susan Woolard, Mrs. Mary Louise “Weezie” Canada, Robert Ingalls and Elizabeth Woolard, and grandchildren Gavin, Chandler, and Hunter. Keith D. Kidwell and wife Victoria of Washington, NC, their children Jason and Kimberly, Wendy Finnegan and grandchildren April, Keith, and Noah Finnegan.
She resided in New Jersey where she raised her children and worked for 17 years in New York City as an accountant for Van Riper Schmitt &Co. January 1969 she began working for H&R Block in Rutherford NJ. In 1974, she passed the Internal Revenue Services “Enrolled Agent” exam, an accomplishment of which she was very proud.
September 1979, she purchased the local H&R Block franchise and established what would become LPK Accounting Service Inc. and relocated to Washington NC. All of her children and many other family members have worked with her in the family businesses.
Come join us and bring along your memories and stories of her at Paul Funeral Home on Tuesday and Wednesday 7-9 p.m. The funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2007 at Mother of Mercy Catholic Church and interment held at Pamlico Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons Robert Ingalls, John Kidwell, Joseph Kidwell, Jason Kidwell, James Kidwell, Ashton Kidwell and Heath Canada.
