Mrs. Carrie Lucille Ball Godley, 86, of 2701 Argonne Ave., Norfolk, Va., died Monday, Sept. 3, 2007, at DePaul Medical Center, Norfolk, Va.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, with the Rev. Henry Horne officiating. Ronnie Godley, Jamie McVicker, Ricky McVicker, Larry Smith, Glen Bright and Bobby Bright will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be David Clark, Brian Clark, Abe Clark, Dewey Phelps and Bobby Heninger.
Mrs. Godley was born in Beaufort County on March 17, 1921. She was the daughter of the late William Niles Ball and Carrie Allen Walker Ball. On Feb. 22, 1948, she married Sidney Eugene Godley, who preceded her in death May 8, 1976. She was a retired clerk having worked with W.G. Schwartz and later Miller &Rhodes, both in Norfolk, Va.
Survivors include one sister, Annie Bright of Chocowinity.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Ball and two sisters, Katie Smith and Daisy Roberson.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. at Paul Funeral Home, Washington, and other times at the home of her niece, Carrie Jean Carrow, 2273 West Barr Road, Chocowinity.
