Mrs. Della Puckett Cox, 82, of 400 Hortontown Road, Roper, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2007, at Plumblee Nursing Center in Plymouth.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Spring Green Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Plymouth, with Elder Russell Wilkins officiating. Burial will follow in Watson Memorial Garden, Roper.
Mrs. Cox was born in Washington County on Dec. 20, 1924. She was the daughter of the late William and Della Howcott Puckett. She was married to James R. Cox Sr., who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John Church of Christ, where she was a member of the Mothers Board.
Survivors include six daughters, Lorraine Burchett of Brooklyn, N.Y., Elaine Munson and Sonja Swain, both of Raleigh, Linda Norman and Evone C. Bell, both of Roper, and Lendora Armstrong of Williamston; two sons, James R. Cox Jr. of Mount Vernon, N.Y., and Ronnie Cox of Brooklyn, N.Y.; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and one brother, the Rev. Wade Patrick Sr. of Plymouth.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Allie P. Watson, Gertie Mae P. Whitley, Rosa Puckett and Margaret Rhodes.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8 p.m. at Puckett-Purkett Funeral Service, Roper.
