Mrs. Patricia “Pat” Weaver Shipman, wife of William Bryan Shipman Jr., entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 14th, 2007. Mr. and Mrs. Shipman recently relocated to Washington from Athens, Ga. The Shipmans resided in Athens, Ga. for over 40 years, and recently celebrated their 42nd anniversary in Washington.
Pat was the daughter of Evelyn and the late Herbert Weaver of Macon, Ga. She graduated from Miller High School and attended Mercer University, where she earned her degree in psychology. After completing her undergraduate degree, she married William Bryan Shipman Jr. They moved to Athens where she earned her masters degree in sociology. While in Athens, they became the proud parents of Jennifer and Lee.
Pat dedicated her life to her family, and to the service of others through the numerous service and healthcare organizations to which she belonged. She was the Regional Representative for the American Heart Association and was on staff at Lanier Gardens. She also worked with various nursing and healthcare organizations trying to make a difference. Additionally, she was a member of the Luncheon Pilot Club of Athens. Prior to their move to Washington, Pat and Bryan were members of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Athens, Ga.
Pat is survived by her husband, Bryan of Washington, N.C.; her mother, Evelyn Weaver of Macon, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer &Jimmy Harris of Washington, N.C.; son &daughter-in-law, Lee and Nanci Shipman of Daniel Island, S.C.; sister &brother-in-law, Gayle and Terry Webb of Savannah, Ga.; uncle Fred Weaver of Camilla, Ga., and six grandchildren, Creighton Shipman, Wheaton Shipman, Jackson Shipman, Hollice Shipman, Ragan Harris and Ashley Harris.
Memorial services will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Washington on Monday, September 17 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends after the service at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Harris at 202 Circle Street, Washington, NC 27889. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Lupus Foundation, Inc., Georgia Chapter, 1800 Lake Park Drive, Suite 101, Smyrna, Ga., 30080 or to the charity of one’s choice.
