Joe Don Sawyer, 52, of 4995 Loop Road, Scranton, died Sunday, September 16, 2007 at his home.
Born August 24, 1955, he was the son of Nellie Allen Sawyer and the late Chancy Junior Sawyer. He was married to the former Phyllis Lee, who survives. Joe Don was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church in Sladesville and was an avid hunter and member of the Pungo River Hunting Club. He worked many years as a commercial fisherman and had operated boats for several different seafood companies.
Funeral Services will be held at Epworth United Methodist Church on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 2 p.m. The Reverends Valerie Balance, Ken Davenport and Chris Humphries will officiate. Burial will follow at the Sawyer Family Cemetery.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are three sons, Joe Don Sawyer II of Engelhard, Timothy Sawyer of Pinetown and Mallory Sawyer of Scranton; a daughter, Andrea Sawyer Gregory of the Ponzer community; three brothers, four sisters and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Service in Swan Quarter.
