Mrs. Mary Bell Bonner Spencer, 84, of 117 E. Eighth St., Washington, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Queen Chapel Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Terra Ceia community, Pantego, with Elder Dwight Spruill and the Rev. William M. Sawyer officiating. Burial will follow in Broad Creek Cemetery, Pantego.
Mrs. Spencer was born in Beaufort County on July 11, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Martha Bowen Bonner and Parthina Jackson Bonner Sr. She attended the former Beaufort County High School, Pantego. On Dec. 23, 1943, she was married to Roscoe Spencer Sr., who preceded her in death. She was a lifelong member of Queen Chapel Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Terra Ceia community, Pantego.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Spencer Whitney and Doris Spencer White, both of Washington; two sons, Roscoe Spencer Jr. and Terry Iran Whitney, both of Washington; one sister, Mary Frances O’Neal of Belhaven; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Ina Ruth Spencer Whitney; three sisters, Priscilla Gardner, Sarah Clark and Lucy Stanley and five brothers, Emanuel Bonner, Parthina Bonner Jr., Cleon Bonner, Willis Bonner and Timothy Bonner.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8 p.m. at Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington, and other times at the home of her son, Roscoe Spencer Jr., 118 Lancaster Lane, Winchester community, Washington.
