Charlie E. Jennette Jr., 62, of Radcliff, Ky., died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007.
He was a resident of Radcliff for more than 30 years. He was born in Bath, N.C., on Oct. 1, 1944, to Isabell and the late Charlie E. Jennette Sr. Charlie served in the Army for more than 23 years and earned the rank of first sergeant. He received numerous medals such as the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation, Army Achievement and Good Conduct medals. He still was serving his country working with security on Fort Knox for the Department of Defense. Charlie was a member of New Life Baptist Church and held the position of deacon chairman for three years and an implemental position in fellowship and brotherhood. He also is known to many businesses in the area because of his past employment ADSCO and as secretary of the Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Pokyon “Diane”; his mother, Isabell of North Carolina; two daughters, Marie and Catherine; two grandchildren, Austin and Addysun; two brothers, Russell of Georgia and Mardell of North Carolina; and three sisters, Maureen Hardy, Lyle Spencer and Shelvia Eberson, all of North Carolina; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
The funeral was Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at New Life Baptist Church with Pastor Hyuk Ju Lee officiating. Burial followed with full military honors in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. for 1st Sgt. Charlie E. Jennette Jr. at White Oak Chapel Church of Christ, Bath, N.C.
