Mrs. Monnia Jay Woolard

Mrs. Monnia Jay Woolard, 72, of 3503 Slatestone Road, Washington, died Monday, September 24, 2007 at her home.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 27, 2007 at Oakdale Cemetery with the Rev. Carolyn Pilgrim of Asbury United Methodist Church and Dr. Michael Price of First Christian Church officiating. Wells Armstrong, Donald Smith, Ray Gurganus, William Woolard, Doug Alligood, Dr. Raeford Pugh and Jimmy Oakley will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Woolard was born June 12, 1935 in Beaufort County. She was the daughter of the late John Henry and Agnes Verona Gaskins Singleton. On December 19, 1952, she married William “Billy” Earl Woolard, Sr., who preceded her in death on September 1, 2001. She was a graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1953. Monnia Jay was employed with Dr. Raeford Pugh for 25 years and was currently employed with Hospital Pharmacy. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, the Asbury Church Choir and the Adult Sunday School Class.
She is survived by two sons, Billy Jay Woolard and his wife, Jackie, and John Charles Woolard and his wife, Tricia all of Washington; one daughter, Vicki Lynn Crumpler and her husband, Marshall of Wilson; seven grandchildren, Ryan Woolard and wife, Terry of Washington, Courtney Arnold and husband, Jason of Washington, Heather Woolard of Garner, Landis Woolard and Brooke Woolard of Washington, and Zac and Jordan Crumpler of Wilson; two great-grandchildren, Kennedy Arnold and Caden Woolard; one sister, Judy Bethard and husband Will of Mt. Carmel, TN; and one brother, Graham Singleton and wife Kathryn of Garner.
Monnia Jay is also survived by Mrs. Doris Cutler, her special friend and devoted companion. Doris led a group of loving Christian ladies, who provided daily care for Monnia Jay during her illness. The family has the deepest appreciation for their unselfish devotion and many acts of kindness.
