Mr. Freeman “Red” Hoggard Jr., 81, of 1104 Bull Hill Road, Windsor, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, at home.
A funeral will be conducted today at 11 a.m. in Ross Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian Medlin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hoggard was born in Bertie County on June 2, 1926. He was the son of the late Freeman and Sarah Hoggard. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was married to Marie Miller Hoggard, who survives. He was retired from Lea Lumber Co. He was a member of Ross Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Danny Hoggard and Steve Hoggard, both of Windsor; one daughter, Joan Waff of Chester, Va.; one brother, Malvin Hoggard of Windsor; two sisters, Pat Jernigan of Colerain and Gail Smith of Windsor; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mickey Hoggard and Vernon Hoggard and one sister, Francis Cobb.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Samantha Ross Fund or United Health Systems Hospice.
