Several key conference games are on tap for tonight’s Week 7 of the prep football season.
The Washington Pam Pack (4-1, 1-0) plays host to the South Central Falcons (0-4, 0-1) in Coastal Conference action. It’s Walk of Fame night for the Pam Pack (see related story).
In the Atlantic Conference, only the Roanoke Redskins won their conference opener last week. Northside, Southside and Williamston all suffered defeats.
Each of the Atlantic teams will square off against Albemarle Conference teams, which counts toward league standings, in tonight’s games.
PLYMOUTH AT ROANOKE
This could be the game of the night.
Roanoke (4-1, 1-0) faces the No. 5-ranked and undefeated Plymouth Vikings (5-0, 1-0). While Roanoke is coming off a 36-28 win over Perquimans, the Vikings trounced Northside, 44-0.
Plymouth picked up a 34-14 win over Roanoke last year.
NORTHSIDE AT
PERQUIMANS
The Northside Panthers (1-4, 0-1) suffered its third shutout of the season in the loss to Plymouth. Northside will look to bounce back when it plays at Perquimans (3-2, 0-1). The Pirates were the lone Albemarle Conference team to lose in conference action last week.
The Panthers cruised to a 42-18 win over the Pirates last season.
MANTEO AT SOUTHSIDE
The Southside Seahawks hope some home cooking will do some good as they play host the Manteo Redskins. Southside (0-4, 0-1) was shut out for the third time in four games last week, suffering a 22-0 loss to Camden. The Seahawks have been outscored 131-12 this year.
Manteo (2-3, 1-0) is coming off a 40-14 win over Williamston. The Redskins topped the Seahawks 35-6 last season.
CAMDEN AT
WILLIAMSTON
The Williamston Tigers are home to take on the Camden Bruins. Williamston (3-2, 0-1) has lost two of its last three games.
The Bruins (4-1, 1-0) has won two straight head into tonight’s battle. Camden topped Williamston twice last year, including a 41-21 win in the playoffs. The Bruins also took a 35-12 victory in the regular season.
JAMESVILLE AT CAPE HATTERAS
After losing both of its non-conference games, the Jamesville Bullets are finding smoother sailing in Tideland Conference play.
It looks like Jamesville (3-2, 3-0) is on its way to a fourth straight conference title. The Bullets will look to keep their winning streak going at Cape Hatteras (1-4, 1-2), which fell 42-0 to First Flight last week.
Jamesville picked up wins of 38-2 and 44-8 over the Hurricanes last year.
MATTAMUSKEET AT PRINCETON
The Mattamuskeet Lakers will step out of conference play to take on the Princeton Bulldogs.
The Lakers (2-4, 2-2 Tideland) hit the road to face the Bulldogs (0-5), who play in the Carolina Conference. Princeton has been outscored 150-13 as its been shut out three different times.
COLUMBIA AT CRESWELL
The Columbia Wildcats will be looking for their first win of the season.
Columbia (0-5, 0-3) finally did crack the scoreboard in last week’s 23-6 loss to Mattamuskeet. The Wildcats finished the game with just nine players.
The Creswell Tigers (2-1, 2-1) are coming off a 30-12 loss to Jamesville.
Columbia won both games last year, taking victories of 21-20 and 37-6.
