Mr. Edgar Gibbs, 86, of 12526 North Lake Road, Engelhard, died Saturday morning, September 29, 2007, at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Gibbs family cemetery, with Scott Sukeforth and Russell Smith officiating.
Born in Engelhard on March 1, 1921, he was the son of the late Harvey and Alice Gibbs. He was married to the former Alma Gibbs, who survives. He was a retired farmer and longtime member of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ.
Along with his wife, survivors include one son, Gene Tooley Gibbs of Engelhard; two daughters, Alice G. Armstrong of Fairfield and Mary Joyce Gibbs of Engelhard; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Gibbs was preceded in death by his twin brother, Edmond Gibbs and another brother, Isreal Gibbs and one sister, Rosa Lee Hooper.
The family suggests that memorials be directed to the local American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Dr., Greenville, NC 27834
