Mr. John Wallace Daniels, 86, of 2454 Grimes St., Winterville, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday in the chapel of Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington with Vice-Bishop Charlie Butler officiating. Burial will follow in Homestead Memorial Gardens, Greenville.
Mr. Daniels was born in Hyde County on Jan. 7, 1921. He was the son of the late Catherine Forrow and Ben Daniels. He attended the Hyde County Schools and graduated from high school in New York. He did further studies at Pitt Community College in Greenville. On Sept. 1, 1973, he married Fannie P. Daniels, who survives. He was employed as an elevator operator in New York. He was the former pastor of St. John Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Ponzer community, Hyde County. He was a member of Mount Pilgrim Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Scranton.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Reynolds of Fredericksburg, Va., and Jacqueline Cannon of Greenville; one god daughter, Gwen Bardon of Newburg, N.Y.; three sons, Kelvin Daniels of Winterville, Golden Willoughby of New York, N.Y., and James Gaylord of Teneck, N.J.; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home and one hour prior to the service at Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
