Mr. James William Batchelor, 75, of 938 McCotter’s Marina Road, Washington, died Thursday, October 4, 2007 at his home.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 6, 2007 at Onslow Memorial Park in Jacksonville, N.C. Mr. Batchelor’s nephews, Dalton Horne, Malcolm Horne, Michael Howard, Kendall Horne, Ian Pinkham, and Brandon Pinkham will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. this evening at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Highway 264 East, Washington, N.C. and other times at his home.
Mr. Batchelor was born in Pender County on February 25, 1932. He was the son of the late Stacy Vann Batchelor and Ruby Pierce Batchelor. He graduated from Richlands High School and received his BS and Masters Degrees from East Carolina University. On December 27, 1974, he married the former Mary Linda Pinkham, who survives. He had been a resident of Beaufort County for 22 years. Mr. Batchelor was a member of the Masons (32nd Degree), the Shriners and the Bath Ruritan Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Linda Pinkham Batchelor of Washington, N.C.; one son, James Terrence Batchelor and his wife, Penny of Crystal River, Ga.; one daughter, Kelly Deanne Batchelor of Salisbury, N.C.; two sisters, Colleen Batchelor Horne and her husband, Linwood and Nellie Batchelor Howard, all of Richlands, N.C.; one brother, Marshall Batchelor and his wife Betty Jean of Jacksonville, N.C. and two grandchildren, Justin Cole Batchelor and Mandy Griffin Matthews and her husband, Stephen.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Taylor Batchelor.
