Mrs. Argie Dell Smithwick Harris, age 101, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2007 at the Spring Arbor Assisted Living Center in Rocky Mount where she had been a resident for over 11 years. She was a former resident in the Small Community of Aurora.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at the Cuthrell Cemetery in the Small Community of Aurora and will be conducted by Dr. Robert Cayton.
Mrs. Harris was born in Beaufort Co. on May 22, 1906 to the late Joseph Benjamin and Emily Walker Smithwick and on September 20, 1928 she married the late Georgie Edward Harris who preceded her in death on November 17, 1987. She was a member of the Mary’s Chapel Christian Church.
Survivors include her son; Jack and daughter in law, Shelvie Harris of Rocky Mount, 3 grandchildren; Terry Freeman and husband Brad of Holly Springs, Sherry Adams and husband Tye of Elizabeth City, Jay Harris and wife Tara of Wake Forest, 4 great grandchildren; Emily, Anna, Daniel Freeman and Braelyn Harris.
The family would like to thank the staff of Spring Arbor Assisted Living Center for their kindness and care during the past 11 years. They also wish to thank the staff of Hospice Care, Nash General Hospital, special caregivers Tonya Lloyd and Shonda Lewis and Bob Britt of the Homebound visitation for the First Baptist Church of Rocky Mount.
