Mrs. Anna B. Teele of 301 W. Seventh St., Washington died at her home Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2007 at Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. She was married to Robert Lee Teele, who preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1985.
Mrs. Teele was born Dec. 16, 1923, the daughter of the late Heber “Gollie” Boyd and Carrie Pearson Green Boyd. She attended the Washington city schools. She received her education at Shaw University (B.A. degree), N.C. State University (master’s degree) and had further study at A&T University, Virginia State University, East Carolina University, the University of Utah and North Dakota.
She was a member of Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church during her entire life. She was a member of the Trustee Board, Stewardess Board No. 2, Deaconess Board, Board of Christian Education and church clerk for more than 52 years. She was also general claims secretary treasurer, served on the Deaconess, Missionary Committee, Pastor’s Appreciation Committee, Live Circle Club and the Historical and Organ Restoration committees. She also chaired the homecoming-church anniversary, Woman’s Day and Mother’s Day, was a District Missionary worker, North Carolina Annual Conference Queen (two terms), pastor’s aide, quarterly conference secretary and Class No. III quarterly conference.
Survivors include one daughter, Pauline Mackey; one son, Anthony “Tony” Teele and one foster son, Johnny Northern.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and William Boyd.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Leon Randolph Memorial Chapel and at other times at the home.
