Harvey G. Whitehurst, 69, died Oct. 11, 2007.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel in Greenville. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Whitehurst, a Pitt County native, had lived most of his life in the Pactolus community. He attended the Stokes and Pactolus schools. In his early life he was employed with City Plumbing and for the last 14 years was with the East Carolina University Facility Services Department. He also played with the Down Home Country Boys blue grass gospel group.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Sarah Belle Ingalls Whitehurst; a sister, Catherine Brown and brothers J.B., Dewey and Curtis Whitehurst.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Evans Whitehurst; two daughters, Wendy Gemmill of Greenville and Joanie Fauth of York, Penn.; a son, William Cherry of Wilson; a sister, Betty Gray Scott; two brothers, Grady L. Whitehurst and Melvin M. Whitehurst of Greenville and eight grandchildren.
