Mr. Allen Gray Corey, 78, of 22311 N.C. Highway 903, Robersonville, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, in Robersonville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Gay and Dr. David Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Martin Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Corey was born in Pitt County on Oct. 1, 1929. He was the son of the late Lloyd and Lina Leggett Corey. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a retired farmer. On June 10, 1951, he married Shirley Roberson Corey, who survives. He was a member of Robersonville First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include one daughter, Amy C. Turner and husband Rob of Oak City; three sons, James Corey and wife Nan, Travis Corey and wife Michelle and Charles Corey and wife Janet, all of Robersonville; two sisters, Lessie Johnson of Robersonville and Sylvia Corey of Greenville; one brother, Loyall Corey Jr. and wife Barbara of Robersonville; 11 grandchildren, Gray Corey and wife Dana of Bethel, Lee and Lewis Corey of Robersonville, Ashley Corey of Robersonville, Adam Corey of Greenville, Helen Jordan and husband John of Greenville, Anna and Robert Turner of Oak City, Charles Corey Jr., Ella Gray and Benjamin Corey, all of Robersonville; and one great-grandson, James Gray Corey Jr. of Bethel.
He was preceded in death by a son, Allen Gray Corey Jr. who died Sept. 19, 1975.
