Mr. Merrian Andrew Dixon Sr., age 74, of 9388 NC Hwy. 306 S., Aurora, died Monday, October 22, 2007 at Beaufort Co. Hospital.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2007 at Edward Christian Church and will be conducted by Pastor David Linton. Burial will follow in the Dixon Cemetery at White Hill Free Will Baptist Church in the Small community of Aurora. Doug Niethanmer, Bryan Bonner, Sr., Joe Bennett, Allen Carrow, Danny Taylor and William Edward Provo will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Dixon was born in Pamlico Co. on January 1, 1933 to the late Andrew Timothy and Belva Lillian Smithwick Dixon. On September 19, 1959 he married Brenda Joyce Heath who survives.
He was a 1953 graduate of Aurora High School, was a member of Edward Christian Church and was a member of the Noah Tripp Music Ministries where he ministered in music to several nursing homes in Pamlico and Craven Co. He retired in 1995 after 30 years of service as a mechanic with PCS Phosphate. Mr. Dixon served his country in the United States Navy.
Survivors include his wife Brenda of the home, two daughters: Linda D. Hollowell of Greenville, Betty Lynn Dixon Armstrong and husband Timothy of Arapahoe, one son: Merrian “Andy” Dixon Jr. and wife Penny of Aurora, three grandchildren: Nicholas Cole Hollowell, Hannah Lee Dixon, Samantha Dawn Armstrong and one god son: James Allen Peele. He was preceded in death by one daughter: Betty Lou Dixon and one brother, Carl Clifton Dixon Sr..
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the funeral hour Thursday, October 25, 2007 at Edward Christian Church and other times at the home 9388 NC Hwy. 306 S., Aurora.
