Mrs. Elva M. Wilkes, 70, of 31740 Hwy 264, Engelhard, passed into heaven, October 24, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mama was born June 9, 1937 in Fairfield, the daughter of Johnnie D. and Nellie Mae Davidson Midgette. On November 13, 1993, she married Richard L. (Pappy) Wilkes, who survives.
She is also survived by sons, Bobby Baker and wife, Janet of Richmond, Va., Danny Greenough and wife, Susi of the home, Floyd Daniel Corfman and wife, Wendy of Ohio, Joe Keene and wife, Peggy of Georgia and Sam Keene and wife, Teresa of Georgia. She is also survived by daughters, Mary Meade and husband Thomas of Beckley, WV, Cynthia Scott and husband, Paul of Chesapeake, VA; a brother and two sisters; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, David Kutzmiller.
The family would like to thank the special people who helped Mama on her journey. Our appreciation and love can never be expressed fully.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made in Mama’s name to Community Home Care and Hospice, P. O. Box 130, Engelhard, N.C. 27824 or Cross Creek Health Care Center, 1719 Quarter Rd., Swan Quarter, N.C. 27885.
Per her wishes, there will be a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. Friday at the home. Scott Sukeforth will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date.
