Mrs. Jessie Mae Whitney Gardner, 85, of 604 W. 11th St., Washington, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, at her home.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Randolph Funeral Home Chapel, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Washington.
Mrs. Gardner was born May 22, 1922, in Hyde County. She was the daughter of the late Beulah Whitney and James Monroe. She attended the public schools of Hyde County. Mrs. Gardner was a member of Mount Hebron Church of Christ Disciples of Christ in Washington. She was married to Harold Gardner Sr., who preceded her in death on March 17, 1980.
Survivors include two daughters, Annie G. Adams of Belhaven and Lizzie G. Langley of Washington; three sons, Curtis Gardner, Harold Gardner Jr. and Donald Ray Gardner, all of Washington; two sisters, Mary Lee Hardy of Swan Quarter and Gertrude Kenlaw of Washington; 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Pernell Whitney.
The family will receive friends at the home, 604 W. 11th St., Washington.
