Mrs. Shirley “Sally” Donnell Collins Spencer, 48, of 8227 Slatestone Road, Washington, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Washington, with the Rev. Roderick Best officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.
Mrs. Spencer was born in Norfolk, Va., on March 20, 1959. She was the daughter of Charlie Hopkins Sr. and the late Queen Esther Collins Waiver. She attended the Beaufort County Schools. She was a member of Cathedral of Fresh Fire Church, Pactolus.
Survivors include six daughters, Freedom “Freedia” Spencer, Chaudney Spencer, Veronica Collins, Sherylinda “Pooky” Nelson, Khariyah Wilkins and Kaitlynn Wilkins, all of Washington; one son, Lewis Spencer of Chocowinity; seven sisters, Joyce Collins of Miami, Fla., Nellie Harris of Orlando, Fla., Shirley Moore of Chesapeake, Va., Evelyn Thomas of Houston, Texas, Jacqueline Lawrence of Pinetown, and Mollie Hopkins and Sherry Hopkins, both of Washington; eight brothers, Rodell Collins of Miami, Fla., Charlie “Bud” Hopkins Jr. of Pinetown, Vernon Hopkins and Randolph Hopkins, both of Bath, John Hopkins of Belhaven, Willie Hopkins of Columbia, Ga., Ronnie Hopkins of Columbia, S.C., and Terry Hopkins of Nashville; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of her aunt, Bernice Lacy, 406 E. 11th St., Washington, and also at the home of her daughter, Freedia Spencer, 306 E. 10th St., Washington.
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
