William Benjamin “WB” Cox Jr., age 76, a resident of 2610 W. 5th St. Washington, died Thursday November 15, 2007.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 19, 2007 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens and will be conducted by Pastor Ken Cash and Doug Gurkin. Sammy Corey III, Ralph “Bud” Respess, Hardy Ray Corey Jr., Troy Woolard, Michael Cox and Leslie Jordan will serve as pallbearers. Donald Woolard, Jimmie Perry, Elwood Ingalls and Walt Swain will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Cox was born in Beaufort Co. on October 3, 1931 son of the late William Benjamin Cox Sr. and Zadie Sheppard Cox. On December 27, 1952 he married the former Marie Corey who survives. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Washington. In 2002, he retired from the United States Postal Service with 32 years of service.
Survivors include his wife Marie of the home, one son, William Benjamin “BB” Cox, III and his wife Carolyn of Plymouth, two granddaughters, Lyndsi D. Cox and Amanda Elizabeth McClees, three sisters, Naomi C. Boyd of Pinetown, Dorothy C. Eborn of Mechanicsville, VA and Geraldine C. Respess of Chocowinity, and his best friend, Donald Woolard and his wife Ann of Washington.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Paul Funeral Home in Washington and other times at the home.
