Mr. Burnell Lovick, 79, of 801 Old U.S. Highway 264, Scranton, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, at Pungo District Hospital in Belhaven.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Mt. Pilgrim Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Scranton, with Vice-Bishop Charlie Butler officiating. Burial will follow in Lovick family cemetery, Scranton.
Mr. Lovick was born in Hyde County on July 29, 1928. He was the son of the late Georgia Burrus and Elijah Lovick. He attended the Hyde County Schools. He had been employed as a truck driver with various companies. On Oct. 3, 1950, he married Lula Credle Lovick, who survives. He was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Scranton, where he served on the trustee board.
Survivors include two daughters, Denise Weston of Scranton and Marie Clark of Baltimore, Md.; four sons, Monty Lovick of Williamston, Stevie Lovick and Calvin Lovick, both of Scranton, and Jimmy Lovick of Durham; one sister, Barbara Bonner of Jamaica, Queens, N.Y.; one brother, Zachariah Spencer of Grimesland; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Clark and Jennie Burrus and two brothers, Artis Spencer and Leland Howard.
The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the home.
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
