Mr. Leamon Taylor Hollis, 76, of 1060 Mill Inn Road, Williamston, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at his home.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Watson officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamilton Cemetery.
Mr. Hollis was born in Martin County on March 9, 1931. He was the son of the late William Luther Hollis and the late Mary Davenport Hollis. He was married to Verlon Matthews Hollis who preceded him in death.
Mr. Hollis was a member of The First Free Will Baptist Church of Williamston and the senior center. He served in the Army National Guard. He was a retired deputy sheriff serving the Town of Hamilton, and had worked with the Railroad and West Point Pepperell.
Survivors include three daughters, Deborah H. Edmonds of Williamston, Phyllis H. Harris of Bath and Kimberly D. Hollis of Greenville; one son, Daryl Hollis of Williamston; one brother, Alton “Dick” Hollis of Hillsborough; one step-brother, Archie Hardison of Hassell; and three step-sisters, Alice Faye Bame, Sandra Kay Reason both of Williamston and Lillian Head of Georgia; 15 grand children, one of which preceded him in death; and 15 great-grand children.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30329 or Williamston Fire and Rescue, 901 Washington St., Williamston, NC 27892.
