Mrs.Violet Snell Jewell, 77, of Creswell, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007 at Washington County Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the Maitland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. H.M. Parsons Jr. and Grant Ambrose officiating. Burial will follow in St. David’s Cemetery.
Mrs. Jewell was born July 9, 1930 in Washington County, the daughter of the late Willie and Hattie Sawyer Snell. She was a homemaker and a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church of Bridgeton.
Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn J. Phelps of Creswell; two sons, Billy H. Jewell and Roy L. Jewell, both of New Bern; two sisters, Hattie S. Spear and Alice S. Barnes, both of Creswell; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary S. VanHorn and Willie Belle Clifton and three brothers, Gilbert Snell, Lester Snell and Paul Snell.
The family will receive friends today from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Maitland Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Creswell Cancer Crushers.
