AURORA — Harry H. Straker, 77, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at Craven Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Straker retired from PCS after 25 years. He was a member of Aurora Lions Club, was a private pilot, a member of Umatilla Jaycees, past president of Aurora Booster Club, past president of Richland Township Wildlife Club. He was an avid outdoorsman. He served in the U.S. Army for nine years, and had worked at Norris Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley N. Straker; two sons, Harry Straker, Jr. of Longwood, Fla. and George Straker and wife, Angela of Tampa, Fla.; one daughter, Patti Straker of New Bern; one brother, Harold Straker of Umatilla, Fla.; two sisters, Sara Land and husband, Rex of Umatilla, Fla. and Phyllis Young of Tallahassee, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Lauren Straker of Washington, D,C,, Ben Straker of Tampa, Fla. and Corey Straker of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home in Alliance with the Rev. Claude Nethercutt officiating. Burial will follow in New Bern Memorial Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Pamlico County Veterans Council.
The family will receive friends at Bryant Funeral Home from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and other times at the residence, 557 Sixth Street, Aurora.
