Washington’s Travis Daniels and Sport Sawyer earned the Coastal Conference’s top football awards this season.
Daniels was voted the Coastal Conference Player of the Year, while Sawyer was tabbed the Coastal Conference Coach of the Year.
It was the second time Sawyer earned the coaching honor. The fourth-year Pam Pack coach earned the conference Coach of the Year honor in the 2005-06 season.
The Pack went 8-4 overall, won the Class 3-A portion of the 4-A/3-A conference and qualified for the playoffs.
Daniels rumbled for 2,290 yards and 22 touchdowns in his senior season. The senior rushed for at least 113 yards in all 12 games this year, while scoring in 11 of the 12 games.
Daniels ran for a season-best 330 yards and four touchdowns in a 35-13 win over North Pitt to open the year. He capped his high school career with 327 yards rushing and three scores in a 41-40 double-overtime playoff loss to South Granville.
Daniels was among six Pam Pack players to earn all-conference honors. He was joined on the team by Jamont Jones, Cody Cunningham, Austin Thompson, Justin Meekins and Chase Tripp.
Jones led the Pam Pack with 40 receptions for 622 yards and 10 touchdowns. The senior also had 303 yards rushing and two scores, a kickoff return for a touchdown and a team-high seven interceptions.
Thompson completed 67 of 125 passes (53.6 percent) for 1,072 yards. The Pam Pack quarterback threw 17 touchdowns, five interceptions while adding 129 yards rushing and two scores.
Cunningham led the Pam Pack with 109 tackles.
Meekins averaged 35.9 yards per punt and converted 45 of 54 PATs.
Tripp led Washington with 10 quarterback sacks.
D.J. McKinney, Justin “Weasel” Moore, Tony Turnage and Dakuan Spencer all earned honorable mention.
