James E. Wallace, Sr.

Mr. James Elwood Wallace, Sr., age 75, a resident of 234 River Shore Drive, New Bern, NC died Saturday December 8, 2007 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, NC.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday December 12, 2007 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington, NC officiated by Pastor David Pierce. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery of Washington. Walt Wallace, Albert Keech, Larry Sullivan, Tom Holloman, Shane Lacoste and James Cherry will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Wallace was born in Beaufort County on July 1, 1932 son of the late Walton Roper Wallace and the late Rosa Boyd Wallace. He married the former Kay Francis Leggett on November 1, 1958 who preceded him in death on October 27, 2001. Mr. Wallace served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. In civilian life he was an automobile mechanic.
Survivors include two sons: James “Jimmy” E. Wallace, Jr. and his wife Charlotte of Ayden and Robert “Bobby” Lee Wallace, Sr. and his wife Cassandra of New Bern; a brother: Andy Wallace of Washington; a sister: Carol W. Keech of Pinetown and two grandchildren: Robert “Robby” Wallace, Jr. and Ryan Andrew Wallace both of New Bern. Mr. Wallace was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Ashly Grey Wallace in 1998.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday December 11, 2007 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at the home of Alvin and Louise Ambrose, located at 1850 Mill Hole Road, Washington, NC.
