Mary Wilhemina Aiken Howell, age 94, a resident of 3815 Ephesus Church Road, Blounts Creek died on December 6, 2007 at Beaufort County Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday December 30, 2007 at the chapel of Paul Funeral Home in Washington and will be conducted by Rev. Jerry Rodgers of the First Baptist Church in Hickory, NC.
Mrs. Howell was born in Winnsboro, South Carolina on April 15, 1913 daughter of the late James Hagood Aiken and the late Susan Anthony Aiken. In 1946 she married George Augustus Howell, Jr. who preceded her in death on June 28, 1964. She had passions for traveling and for playing bridge, entering tournaments in a number of different countries. She touched the lives of all she came in contact with and was loved by many.
Survivors include one daughter, Georgia Howell Brown and her husband Dick of Blounts Creek; one son, Gus Howell and his wife Gladys Carowan Howell of Washington; one stepdaughter, Lola Howell Teubert of Newburgh, IN; two sisters, Alice Aiken Wheatly of Beaufort, NC and Marshall Aiken Sturkie of North, SC; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Howell was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Lotta Jeanne Howell Cameron; one sister, Sudie Aiken Adams and two brothers James and David Aiken.
