WINTERVILLE — Mr. Russell Edward Dudley, 87, died Wednesday, December 12, 2007.
The funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Winterville Baptist Church with the Rev. Grant Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Chapman’s United Methodist Church Cemetery near Vanceboro.
Mr. Dudley, son of the late Vernon Edward and Lizzie Barrow Dudley, was a native of Craven County and spent his youth in the Dudley’s Crossroads community. A veteran of World War II, he served in the United States Army Air Corps in Alaska. He lived in Washington where he worked as a carpenter for over 50 years, moving to Winterville two years ago. He took great pride in his work and his family.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Wayne, and one brother, Henry Dudley.
He is survived by his: wife of 59 years, Myra Lancaster Dudley, of the home; four, daughters, Kathy Laspina and husband, Tony, of Henderson, Sandra Maness and husband, Kirk, of Greenville, Debra Dudley, of Winterville, and Paula White and husband, Seth White III, of Waxhaw, N.C.; two brothers, Lester Dudley and wife, Janie, of Durham, and Jessie Dudley and wife, Lois, of Chocowinity; two sisters, Beatrice Lewis, of Vanceboro, and Giva Mayo and husband, Carol, of New Bern; and five grandchildren, Michael Laspina, Seth Thomas White IV, Alexa White, Kaelyn Maness and Ryan Maness.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Golden Living Center in Greenville for their many kindnesses over the last several months.
