Mrs. Mattie Ruth Midyette, 91, of 250 Lover’s Lane, Britthaven of Washington, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
A funeral will be conducted today at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service with the Rev. Curtis Haislip and David Linton officiating. Burial will follow in Ryder Hill Cemetery in Pamlico Beach.
Mrs. Midyette was born in Hyde County on Sept. 22, 1916. She was the daughter of the late Israel and Ellen Berry Mooney. She was married to Ralph Benjamin Midyette, who preceded her in death in 1956. She retired from Samson Shirt Factory where she worked as a seamstress for 25 years. She attended the 15th Street Church of God in Washington as long as her health permitted.
Survivors include one son, Joseph D. Midyette Sr. of Robersonville; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Harriett Grace Midyette Peed.
The family will receive friends today from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Hillside Funeral Service, Washington, and other times at the home of her son, 2317 Matthews Road, Robersonville.
