Willis Waverly Bond

Mr. Willis Waverly Bond, age 61, a resident of 2619-A Richard Drive, Greenville, N.C. and former resident of Belhaven, NC died Sunday December 16, 2007 at home with his family by his side following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
A Celebration of Waverly’s life will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday December 19, 2007 at Belhaven Missionary Baptist Church of Belhaven, N.C. officiated by Rev. Jack Franks. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery of Washington, N.C. Kevin Ashley, H.L. Bond, Steve Carawan, Craig Cripe, Steven Hunter, Wyn Kinion, Danny Morris and Keith “Buck” Radcliffe will serve as pallbearers.
Waverly was born in Bertie County on March 6, 1946 son of the late Willis Hosie Bond and the late Susie Glass Bond. Waverly was a wonderful husband, loving father and “Papa”. Waverly was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer. He worked for Tideland EMC for 26 years and Pitt/Greene EMC for 8 years. Waverly was a member of the Belhaven Masonic Lodge and Belhaven Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a past Deacon. He was also a former member of the Belhaven Town Council and Belhaven Fire &Rescue Squad. Waverly will be remembered for his passion for living life to the fullest, his compassion &generosity for others and his love for the Lord. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Brenda Ashley Bond, one daughter, Daphne Bond Cullom and her husband R. Scott Cullom of Washington, NC; one son, Barry Chadwick Bond and his wife, Leigh Braswell Bond, of Belhaven, NC; one sister, Sandra B. Wiley and her husband Robert Wiley of Edenton, NC; three grandchildren, Ashley Caroline Cullom and R. Matthew Cullom of Washington, NC and Zachary Willis Bond of Belhaven, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Douglas Wayne Bond.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday December 18, 2007 at Belhaven Missionary Baptist Church of Belhaven and at other times at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, 510 Riverview Street, Belhaven, NC 27810. Flowers are welcome or the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to Belhaven Missionary Baptist Church, Building &Grounds - Parking Lot, P.O. Box 400, Belhaven, NC 27810.
